Last Stop was New York

New York

Unless you're willing to shell out a fortune, you are likely to stay in a cramped hotel room in New York. For those who like to travel in style and would like to have some money left to spend on shopping, the Soho Grand Hotel is good value for money. Located in a hot spot downtown, this hotel is surrounded by a good selection of restaurants, bars and HLBs (Hip Little Boutiques!).

Guest rooms are a good size by New York standards. Aside from the usual amenities, all rooms have stereos with CD players and a complete set of Kiehl's toiletries are provided. You don't have to bring your own goldfish as they supply goldfish on request to keep lone travellers company. (Seriously!)

Saturday night we had dinner at an Italian restaurant called Barolo on West Broadway (b/w Spring & Broome). This place is known for its garden setting and good wine list. Great place for a romantic dinner.

I was glad that we just had quiet chill out evenings - because then I was up by noon ready to do some shopping.

Sunday was more shopping, shopping, shopping! And in the evening we hooked up with Sajj at a bar/restaurant called Calle Ocho. Met some interesting characters - Klara, Francois + Yvonne.

We always just go for the weekend and it doesn't afford us enough time to explore New York. There's just so much to do in so little space! I think I'm going to book a longer stay next time!
